Change is imminent and everywhere. Your favorite childhood tree swing will most likely fall over and decay, but will take part in housing animals or the next round of saplings. Things or places that seem lifeless, hold potential for new growth if it’s willing to adjust to new circumstances.

My paintings follow this idea. By using materials that arguably used to be living, I relate my work to the themes of transformation, rebirth, renewal and healing. They are based around landscape and natural materials like driftwood, rock and bone. I collect them, then place them together into a hanging still life and paint the arrangement into different environments. These ensembles are my way of imagining the concepts of adaptability and reparation in a surreal and mystical manner.
